The team founded by British downhill legends Rachel, Gee and Dan Atherton will race in the World Cup with Proxim powered by Prologo saddles.
The Atherton family certainly needs no introduction, they have dominated Downhill mountain-biking for over 15 years. Between them they hold 8 World Championship titles, 7 Overall World Series titles, 49 World Cup wins and 20 National titles.
To meet the challenges of 2023 season, the Atherton team chose Proxim, the gravity-specific saddle line developed by Prologo in collaboration with the university Politecnico di Milano. Durable and high-performance saddles, perfect for facing Enduro and Downhill competitions at the highest levels.
"We are really happy to work with Prologo and compete with their Proxim saddles”, said Team Manager Tom Lloyd, “We have a great program on this season and we are excited for Prologo to be a part of this. The company is passionate and has extensive olympic and World titles, hopefully we can add to these!”
"We are proud to collaborate with the Atherton team, a reference in the Downhill scene, supporting the riders with Proxim in the most important international competitions," said Salvatore Truglio, CEO of Prologo "The close collaboration with the team is a great opportunity for a continuous 360° growth; we are sure that the feedback of the athletes will be precious and will allow us to reach a common goal: to make more and more performing products, up to their needs.”
Proxim W450 Performance, the team's new saddle
To face the competitions of 2023 season, the Continental Atherton Race Team riders unanimously chose the Proxim W450 Performance TiroX 145 model. An ideal saddle model even for the most extreme descents thanks to these features:
TiroX Rail made with light-alloy steel, a material with an excellent balance between weight and strength, which can ward off rail breakage even under heavy impacts.
Variable-thickness monocoque base, made of nylon with carbon injections, to resist shocks and better absorb vibrations on rough terrain.
Semi-round shape and compact size, with a length of 250mm and a width of 145mm to allow greater freedom of movement and not hinder the rider's movements.
Grip Cover at the rear of the saddle to increase grip between the legs and the saddle while riding downhill in all weather conditions.
MSS - Multi Sector System different mapped and separate zones on the saddle each consisting of different interactive foams and separate single cell padding. The "islands" work autonomously adapting to all the positions the rider may take while pedaling.
